Role
In this product, there is collaboration between the UI/UX Designer along with the development team and product owner. The Product Owner will create a requirement which will later be translated into a mockup design by the UI/UX Designer. After the mockup design process is complete and has been validated by the product owner, the design will be forwarded to the development team to develop. Many improvements and new features were developed to simplified, streamlined, and seamlessly managed the internship hiring process for over 120+ companies and also 10,000+ active users of magenta internship applicants.
Challenge
We faced time constraints, team resources and pre-set targets. By early 2024, Magenta website is expected to have rebranded and reached version 2.0 where there are changes to the logo, color pallete, and design system. We also have to launch some new features that can make it easier for companies to select candidates. With the limited time and many tasks for the development of new features, the design process and the development process are carried out parallel in one cycle sprint which only has a duration of 1 week. This creates a problem where the design that has been made is not in accordance with the development process so that development revisions often occur which makes work twice. With this problem,
I proposed to the product owner to separate the design sprint and development sprint. Here I hope that the design process is done one cycle faster than the development cycle so that designers and developers can focus on their respective tasks. In its application, the first Design Sprint is carried out by designing features to be created, the feature design process, and design revisions. After the first Sprint Design is complete and has been approved by the Product owner, the finished design will be delivered to the developer to be worked on in the next developer sprint. This proves to be effective and efficient so that designers can focus on the design stage and developers can focus on the develop stage without fear of changes to the design so that there is synchronization between the designer and developer.
